New Creation; New Mind; New Life

Being a new creation involves a renewing of the mind.  When you accept Christ as Saviour and Lord the Bible says you become a new creation.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" 2 Corinthians 5:17

When you become a new creation, you cannot bring your old way of thinking and your old ideas and paradigms into your new life.  You have become a new creation, which includes a new mind; a new way of thinking.  You need to learn and be trained in the new way of thinking (through studying God's Word, conversation with God - prayer, fellowship with believers, biblical teaching...) This is the way to start your new life; by renewing your mind in the way you see and think of things. A renewed mind will affect your focus, your choices and how you live your new life.
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2

Bringing parts of your "old self/sinful nature" into your new life will not work.  It will draw you back to your old life.  You must "throw-off" every part of the "old, self-serving nature" in order to live and grow in the new life...

"Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God." Romans 8:5-8

Truth

There is truth which is... the facts, what is happening in the natural, etc.

But then there is God's Truth (real truth) which always brings life and THIS is the truth we are to share with others.

The first truth is often accusing and can bring condemnation and make people feel horrible or defeated when shared.  This kind of truth may not bring change and freedom.

God's Truth may bring conviction, which reveals our need for God's forgiveness and God's Help; which brings change and new life into those areas of a person's life... This Truth brings hope and life into the situation and into that individual's life.

So the one truth may actually lead to bondage, feelings of failure, hopelessness and despair, but when God's truth is brought into that situation or life, with it comes Hope, Freedom and the Promise of Peace among many other life-giving blessings.

... just something to remember when we are trying to help others and for our own lives when circumstances are not what we wish they were

Security

Until a person is certain of their own security, they cannot truly put others before themselves, have true concern for others, or really help others.

As a Christian, our security is not self-attained or self-achived.  It is not dependent upon another human being, such as a spouse or parent even.  This is how the world views security.  Our security solely lies in our complete faith and trust in God.

Faith and Trust that God is in control of everything and that we are in His care always.  When we know this, there is no need to worry about ourselves and we are free to concentrate on helping others who have not heard or realized this important truth.

Quotes Oct 2009

Having a Good Life is really about LOVING and GIVING.  That's really what it all boils down to...  It's not about toys, money, not even really about provision (although our God says He will supply our every need);  it's not about what we can get...  The Good Life is a life that leads with open hands and open arms... always ready to give.

I recently got back from a Women's conference in Red Deer, AB (www.oneinamillion.ca).  It's an awesome conference and if you can, you should try to make it in October 2010.  The speakers this year were Lee Grady & Margaret Stunt.  Here are a just few tidbits from that conference that emphasize some things to keep in mind if you want to have a good life....

- Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and hoping the other person will die.

- Forgiveness does not make what the person did right, but it realeases you to be all that God has for you to be.

- LOVE COVERS! The Bible says that love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8).  If you are waiting to "like" someone before you LOVE them, you might be waiting for a very long time.

- It's not about whether people like you or not, it's about whether you are going to obey God or not.

- In the world there are lots of people with fame, power, money, lots of friends, etc.  It's important to remember that as a Christian we don't need all those things they have to have a happy or good life; but they desperately need what we have whether they know it or not... The Good News!

Thanks for reading... =o)
